PRECIOUS | Susan Lenz | TEDxColumbiaSC

Thrilled to be part of TEDxColumbiaSC ... and I'm getting a "do over" as I'm presenting this talk at The Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England in August!  Can't wait ... and I'll be adding more images!

Plus ... I'm linking this blog post to Nina-Marie's "Off the Wall Fridays", a site for sharing fiber work.

This is the best TED talk I've ever heard. It's one that EVERYONE can relate to and understand. I believe it is one that every living soul should hear/see. Thank you Susan for putting my life and art into words. You hit the rusted nail on the head.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this... I have things from my grandmother and mother that I will pass down to my grand niece. I already have plans!

thanks Susan, I really enjoyed that. Lots to think about. We've moved into a boat and had to downsize or store a lot of our possessions. It really made me think about what is precious and how to keep what is, but in a space conscious way. Now I'm off to dig out that special cup and saucer from the back of the cupboard where I've stashed it and use it for a cup of tea!

This is an issue facing everyone of my generation. So many things have come to us, and now there is nowhere for them to go--and not just stash! My children have put it bluntly--"get rid of it!". But now I have permission (LOL), it's become a challenge, and a creative one at that.

Thank you for that gentle reminder!
what a great TED talk Susan not only for us fabric handlers lovers but every one else that starts a sentence with "Someday...." once a very wise woman, that once was in my painting class in 2oo1 said to another woman in our presents that spoke of someday she wanted to try quilting, painting, arting ... "your eyes and hands will no wait for someday." !!!so true

Nice...I am the family member who keeps all the family precious...but I do tell the kids about it. Can't guarantee they'll do anything logical with it, but I'm not too worried about it...because I do have it out and am using it.

You are an artist with words, as well. Well told! There are so many people I would like to hear this.
