Wonder Under/Bond-a-Web

Those who have been fortunate enough to have had a workshop/class with Jan Beaney and/or Jean Littlejohn have likely heard their phrase, "A woman can't have enough painted Bond-a-Web"...that's Wonder Under here in the USA. Students generally chuckle...but it's true.

Every so often I buy a bolt and paint it all with watery acrylic paint. Here's the latest batch drying outside my open studio door.

The paintings and sculpture in the first photo aren't mine...obviously...but there's an angled view of three from my Strata series on the hallway door. My studio is one of thirteen in the building with a large gallery, atrium, and great lighting. It's called Gallery 80808/Vista Studios.

What glorious colours Susan. I would be interested to know how you store them.

What a nice space you have to work with, lucky you! I've not tried painting bondaweb yet, though it's on my List.

Looks like an installation - would be great in the Tate Modern!!

AND - what a sensible idea painting so much in advance !

That's a lot of wonder under. It does look kind of cool spread out like that.

So this means you can tell people..."My name is Bond, Susan Bond, the Wonder Under Woman!!" hehe

Wow!!! You are right when you say you can't have enough. Painting some is on my playing to do list. I don't think I could find that much space to let them dry though. My normal shortcut of drying painted fabric on the shoe drying rack in the dryer probably wouldn't work.

Now that is real stash fodder. I too would like to know how you store them because it's such fragile, sticky stuff.

Susan - what a lovely studio area (at least from first appearances). How very productive you have been with the wonder under. You just lit the fire under me to do the same -- I've been wanting to do that for a long time. I am addicted to painting dryer sheets -- now I think I'll try the wonder under.
