Dining With Friends Aids Benefit platter

The weekend was a busy one. Steve and I attended the spring performance by USC's Dance Department (University of South Carolina) on Friday night and drove to Charlotte on Saturday for an evening called "Rhoden, Balanchine, Bolero" by North Carolina Dance Theater. Mathias' classmate Seia Rassenti performed in two of the works and was excellent in both. In fact, both evenings were very good. The college students handled Martha Graham and Twyla Tharp (a real feather in the program's cap to have permission to dance these choreographers work) very well. Of course, it wasn't quite the professional level that we saw on Saturday night...but how could it be! These were college students who had to tackle totally different styles of movement in a matter of a few months. In that, they exceeded expectation.

I did get lots of time in my studio....working on keys for my installation and wrapping more rusted nails. I also started and finished my platter for the annual Dining with Friends Aids Benefit. It was painted with Liquidtex's Copper Glossies paint and heat set in the oven. I created one of my "In Box" pieces and carefully glued it to the platter using Golden's GAC 400.
