Several months ago I filled out the entry forms, wrote checks for the entry fees, and mailed off my CD of images to two important, national juried fine craft exhibitions. One show is called Materials Hard and Soft in Denton, Texas. The other is Handcrafted in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Wonderfully, I had TWO pieces accepted into both. This is nothing short of miraculous. These are shows that accept between 9% to 15% of the entries. To be rejected is very, very common....one is always in good company. To have one accepted is fantastic. To have TWO in the show is....well...MIRACULOUS.
Yesterday, however, something beyond MIRACULOUS happened. I don't think there is a word for this...just a loud, gleeful scream of pure delight! Behind in the Mortgage received a $500 award!
Here's what my email from Denton, Texas read:
Leslie Laine Lewis | Arachne Teapot | $1000.00 |
Maya Schonenberger
| Anemone II | $750.00 |
Magi Calhoun | Morning Encounter | $500.00 |
Danielle Embry | Transpose | $500.00 |
