Crazy Blues....going to Sweden

(Click on image to enlarge. Crazy Blues. 39" x 33". IN PROGRESS.)

Just under a month ago, I started a new project, a crazy quilt! It is perfect for all the stitches I've learned and will be learning through the TAST challenge! The center is a xylene transfer of Mamie Smith. Mamie Smith was the first African American to record a Blues song....CRAZY BLUES. Almost immediately, I basted down scraps of lace, vintage trim, buttons, and bits of crochet. It was perfect for hand stitching during my trip to England. Now it is perfect for my upcoming trip to the Embroidery Symposium in Sweden. I'm so excited. I leave tomorrow. While there I'll be taking a design class under Tilleke Schwartz, meeting the other international teacher Sara Lechner, and meeting Annica and hopefully other cyber friends.

Hi Susan,

Your crazy quilt is wonderful! I love your use of vintage embellishments and buttons. As with all of your work, I wish I could see it in person to truly appreciate the textures and colors and stitching. Have a great trip.
